BenefitFromOnlineMediaAndSocialMediaTechnology
SmartphoneMakeLifeEasier
But some people think that social media and being connected all the time is bad because you are exposed. But I think it’s not true, because you control the situation by deciding what you want to share and what you want to keep private.
It’s important for me to have a Smartphone because I am very far away from my family and friends, so I use it to know all about them.
AllDifferentBlogPossibilities
BackgroundAndExpectations
I have been using social media for 5 years. I started using Facebook before most of the people even knew about it, so in the beginning I had only about 20 friends. Soon after that, Facebook started to become more and more popular and now I have 537 friends, and I use a lot of other social media platforms.
In Chile I study Digital Design, so I know a lot about making videos and animation, but I have never uploaded or shared them. I expect learn what the benefit could be to use a video blog or other video platform.
Second life experience
My first impression when I joined second life was: “What do I have to do now?” In time, I learned how to move over the place, how to interact with objects, and then somebody talked to me and said “Tudo bom?” I thought, “Ok I can’t talk with him, I don’t know Portuguese”, so I kept on walking, and then I learned how to teleport myself… So I began to explore the world and then I met more people and talked to them. It was a little bit strange and uncomfortable. Maybe it’s because I don’t trust people who hide behind characters. I'm open to meet new people, but in a more open platform, such as twitter, where you can know who the person is, based on their thoughts and opinions. However, it was fun experience, but I didn’t like it and will not continue playing.
Social Networking lover
My favourite one is Twitter. You can share all your thoughts and opinions with friends and people that you don’t know, but that you find interesting to follow. And I think that sharing your daily experiences with each other is not the only exciting thing about Twitter, you can also report real-time news, so this way you can be informed of events happening around the world. For example, I experienced an 8.8 magnitude earthquake last year. We were without water, electricity and all communications were cut off for 2 weeks. But after a few days the internet on my iPhone started working again, so then I was able tell all of my friends and relatives that my family and I were fine. Besides I could report about the situation in my city, which was at the epicentre of the earthquake.
In conclusion, I think that social networking platforms are not only fun, but also very useful for keeping you informed.
